Networking at altspace

This Monday we welcomed the Federation of Small Businesses back to altspace coworking office for our monthly networking event.  Twenty six local business people heard an energetic talk from Alex McCann from Altrincham HQ on staying ahead of the competition.  Alex is a social media expert and gave the room some great advice on how to utilise the various social media platforms to raise awareness and generate business leads.  Here are two pieces of advice from the event.

The use of online analytical tools can really help you optimise your messaging.  Twitonomy can give you valuable insights into the behaviours of your followers and those you choose to follow.  Who engages most with your tweets and which days and times resonate with your audience.  By spending some time evaluating these factors you can save time and money and really make your twitter campaigns work more efficiently.

Alex also discussed how important it is to have personal interactions across social media estimating that over 60% of his output involves conversations with contacts.  We all need to feel that our messaging is valued and by commenting, retweeting and liking posts we are showing a human side to our marketing that can shouldn’t be overlooked.  Online networking can be as effective as face to face meetings and offers a further touchpoint for communications with customers.

The next FSB evening is on 15th May from 1800 to 2000.
